Packed Full of Flavor Pizza Pasta

Yep.....I said Pizza Pasta. Not to be confused with pizza or pasta but both.

So for a long time I've considered the idea of combining 2 of my favorite foods into one. Turns out I had some canned sauce and a bunch of noodles in the cabinet and since I live in the middle of nowhere....where you have to drive 26 miles round trip to get any decent meal I thought why-not.

Where I live there is no Taco Bueno, no McDonald's, Arby's (forget about it), Greek Food ( I get laughed at when I ask), Fried Chicken ( Now I'm laughing).

You would think in farm and ranch country we would have one of those super cool farm to table type restaurants. Nope....I get dirty looks when I say that. For real, almost 4 years later and they still look at me like I'm an alien.

So as a PSA for me and all of the other people who live in the middle of nowhere......if you'd like to open a farm to table place I'm your biggest fan. I'll sing your praises.

In the meantime...... it's Pizza Pasta in this house.

Ingredients

1 large can Spaghetti Sauce ( your favorite)
1 box of Elbow Macaroni
2 Cups Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
1 Green Bell Pepper Sliced into cubes
2 Cups Cooked Italian Sausage
1 Small Onion Chopped into itty bitty pieces
1 Tsp. Dried Basil
1 Tsp. Chopped Garlic
2 Tsp. Dried Parsley
1 Small Package of Pepperoni

(You could use....olives, mushrooms or anything you love to put on your pizza could be throw in. Your imagination is the limit.)

Just remember everyone has to eat it.

The first thing you want to do is put on a large pot of water and bring it to a boil.

Now you want to do chop up the bell pepper and the onion into bite sized pieces.

Once the water is boiling throw the bell pepper, onion and cooked Italian sausage in the boiling water.

Check the onion and peppers and see if they are tender after about 5 minutes.

Don't drain them but scoop out the peppers, onions and sausage out of the water and set aside and then dump in your pasta.

It will give the pasta an excellent flavor.

Let the pasta cook according to the package directions and then drain the noodles in a strainer and set them aside.

Open your can of Spaghetti Sauce and add in the salt, pepper, oregano, basil and garlic. Stir well.

Now take a 9 x 13 casserole dish and and spray with oil and dump your noodles in.

Dump about a 1/3 of the sauce over the noodles.

Next pour scoop in about 1/2 of the meat and pepper mixture on top.

Lay 1/2 of the pepperoni on top of the meat and then 1/2 of the cheese.

Now you are going to want to add the rest of the meat and then the rest of the pepperoni.

Add the last of the sauce and cover with cheese and sprinkle your parsley.

Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

Serve it up hot with some salad if you like.

It's the best of both worlds.

Now I'm off to finish hosing off the deck. I have Spring Fever.
