This Man's Dream Kitchen....

Greetings all!!!! My name is Wade and I am the lucky old hubby of The Cottage Making Mommy!
I hijacked her computer to do a guest post here on her blog. I have had a couple blogs before and am starting up a new one over at Mister Wade Blogs, So when you are reallllly bored or just want to waste some data, please feel free to go check me out!

Anyhoo....The lovely Valerie wanted me to come on here and do a guest post, so here I is!  And what exactly is on my mind? My future "dream house" is the first thing,  and so let's talk about it.

The first thing I want in a house is a kitchen that has all the things I need. Here is a pretty good representation of what I want. Courtesy of Dream Kitchens

Two ovens is super important! When I was renting, the house I lived in had a smaller oven alongside the regular sized one. I told myself I would never need the second oven. But, of course, I used it mercilessly. It saved so much time! I could serve the rolls, all piping hot, fresh out of the oven alongside the pork chops I just finished baking. So that is a definite must have!

The second thing I really liked is the "bar" area. No real need for a table there. Because honestly, knowing how life is, I think a table there would be a storage area. But it is just perfect to grab a sammich and a drink, or something like that, and tear into it sitting or standing there. Of course, we will have a big table in  the dining room/area. So don't worry, when you drop by there will be plenty of room to chow down!

The refrigerator seems like it would be a decent size.  I figure there will be a huge freezer and another fridge in the pantry off the kitchen. El Freezero will be packed with vegetables from the garden that we grew. I will try to keep a good selection of meats, poultry and Eskimo Pies in there to have stuff to make a meal. Going to the store out here is not just a hop in the car and drive a couple blocks. It's drive several miles to OVERPAY for something. Or drive several more miles to get something decently priced.

By the way... I love the stainless steel all around! Maybe we will do some kind of stone for counter tops but maybe the stainless will work there too. I love the tall faucets! They will make it so much easier on me! One thing that is missing is a little grill area. So I will stick that in there, probably near the stove. Of course we will have the grills out back too, for the big stuff.

The other thing I am debating on is whether to have the see through doors on the cabinets. Either Valerie or I will come on here and let you know what we decided. Whenever it is done.

Dang, here I am all worn out and I didn't get too far into the tour. Well, hopefully I will be able to get on and talk to you some more in the future, I better go take my evening medicine and get the dogs settled in for the night, Thanks for reading!!

  2. You sir, have excellent taste in kitchens. The stainless steel in prime in my book! Double ovens and a salamandar would be on my dream kitchen wish list for sure. The bar...I could take or leave but a HUGE fridge and subzero freezer would be awesome. I'll be sure to check out your blog.

  3. Nice to meet you Mister Wade! Love your choice I think it would look so nice with some soapstone countertops. I see you like to do some cooking, my husband gave it a whirl once and nearly killed us...he made SHI* on a shingle...om my god we still talk about it and it was a good three years ago. Love to see men cooking it up in the kitchen. Stainless is sharp but fingerprints are so visible , that's something to take into consideration. I will visit your blog , your wife is such a sweety! I'm Lisa over at Sweet Tea N' Salty Air.

  4. That is a gorgeous kitchen! I also love the stainless steel and I agree that having two ovens would be a great time saver! I would probably omit the bar since I had a breakfast bar at my condo and rarely used it.

  5. Wade, that is a beautiful kitchen! Do you guys bake a lot? The second oven would be a godsend for a family who bakes a lot. Also I love the idea of the glass/see through cabinets but tha would mean my cabinets would have to be in organized and presentable...all the time. LOL They are not!!
