10 Magnificent Ideas to Celebrate Memorial Day

Memorial Day means a lot of different things to a lot of different people. In our home Memorial Day is a time that we remember our loved ones we've lost and celebrate their lives and also celebrate our soldiers who have put their lives on the line for our country and our freedom.

We usually have a big cookout and decorate up a storm with red, white and blue. My family has always been very patriotic and I know my mom and grandparents would approve.

Here are 10 magnificent ideas to help make your Memorial Day memorable.

Good idea for a grave site for a loved one:
                                                                     source

To start the day we always pay a visit to the grave site of our relatives. I just love this ideas of taking fence boards and making a cross and putting a solar light on it. Now all cemeteries won't let you do this but if they do this is a really nice.

Patriotic Bandana Tablecloth, 4th of July, Memorial Day, Picnic Table:
                                                              source

Once we come home we always like to cook out. This tablecloth made from bandannas is so simple and patriotic. It's a real conversation starter.

These red, white and blue mason jars are so fun and an easy craft you can do in the morning and use in the afternoon.

Looking for an affordable centerpiece? Use some empty Coke cans and cut some wild sunflowers and stick a few flags in. Very patriotic and very affordable.

Simple cookies arranged on a platter to look like the flag. What a great idea.:

I just love the ideas of serving a patriotic cookie platter. You can make them ahead and arrange them the day of the party.

Celebrate Memorial Day with a handmade bean bag toss game! 1) Cut two 6 inch squares for each of the eight bean bags. 2) Cut two (one smaller than the other) stars out of fabric. 3) Attach both stars to one square with heat n' bond. 4) Sew around the top square at about 1/8th of an inch from the edge. 5) Sew both squares together, leaving 1/4th of an inch along the edge. 6) Once you fill the bag with pellets, finish sewing up the edge. 7) Finally, use pinking shears to cut along the raw edg...:

Every single person around will love this corn hole game. It's addictive. You can use it all Summer long and beyond.

Spangled Smoothie - This 4th of July recipe would also be a perfect Memorial day recipe. It's very easy to make and tastes delicious.:
                                                                            source

What better way to stay cool during a long afternoon than to sip on a patriotic smoothie.

                                                                        source

This is one of my favorite things ever. You could do this with your family and friends during a bbq and it would be a great conversation starter to teach your family about freedom and soldiers.

                                                           Image result for praying hands

Perhaps the most important thing we can do for a great Memorial Day is to pray for our soldiers, their families and the leaders of our country.

It's important that every person that comes through our home knows that we believe freedom isn't free.

From my home to yours. Happy Memorial Day.

For those of you who have served we salute you and we thank you.

  7. Nice ideas! I really like the bandana tablecloth because it is red, white, and blue without breaking flag protocols. I do not like to see flags being used as tablecloths, which definitely is against flag code. Now I must check out the red, white, and blue smoothie.

  14. Valerie, these are terrific. And the nice thing is that a lot of them can do double duty as July 4, too! We always do the cemetery thing on Memorial Weekend. I don't think they'd let us do the planter but I love that idea. It would be lovely for your own "pet cemetery" too.
