Decorating the Deck
Now that our deck has been raised and my hubby only has the handrails and the ramp left to install I could't resist and had to start decorating the deck.

My old bakers rack holds pots of spinach and rainbow kale.
Everyday we enjoy a glass of sweet tea or dessert out on the deck.
I re purposed this old metal stand into my herb garden rack and added multi color pots to give it a punch of color.
Basil, Thyme, Rosemary, Sage, Parsley, and Garlic will all be so easy to snip for fresh cooking all Spring and Summer.
A neighbor down the street had her hubby drop me off this old metal glider last year and this may be the year I get around to sanding it and painting it red. What do you think?
This year I am trying to grow food in most of my pots and interspersing them with some fresh flowers. My spinach is going strong... Praying that it won't get to hot and bolt before my first harvest.
The dogs got a hold of my sweet potato vine and I didn't think it would make it but I stuck it in a pot and with all the rain and water I'm happy to report...I think it's going to live and be crawling up my bakers rack in no time.
I figure it will take a good 30 days for all of my pots to fill up and really take off.
Two of my pots I reserved for cherry tomatoes and some jalapeno peppers to have right at my front door.
How about you, what have you been doing on your front porch or deck?

How lovely! We don't have a deck. Maybe one day. My parents have a deck though and I love sitting out on it. And I do love some sweet tea. Yum.
ReplyDeleteThe deck is great and I think after the 30 days when everything is growing nicely it will look even better and be more beautiful. Will be looking out for the pics.

Such a sense of pride and accomplishment when we grow our own goodies! We just recently picked our rapini and had it for dinner -- yum! Your plants look great!
ReplyDeletethat's one thing I miss living in a condo is the lack of garden/ outdoor space. Although my Mother does remind me that I cannot, for the life of me, keep plants alive lol so a garden may not be the best for me, but a lovely deck/ outdoor space is always beautiful in the Summer sunshine!

You are so lucky to have a deck that you can decorate with beautiful greens and flora. My condo is a bummer, can't plant any greens here.. :(
ReplyDeleteYour decorations are looking great! That glider is totally my favorite!
ReplyDeleteThere's something so wonderful and lively about a home with potted plants. I tried to add a few in my apartment last year, but of course, they all died. I have the complete opposite of a green thumb!
