An Afternoon on Ms. Kay's Porch Part 1

I got this great phone call this afternoon when I sat down outside while frustrated that the brand new mower stopped working and the conversation went something like this,

Ms. Kay - "You Busy" Me-NO Ms. Kay-"Are you home?" Me Yes Ms. Kay-"I'll be there in a sec."

Me - Come on over.

Then she showed up with a plate and a bundt cake pan on top of it with the most delicious warm buttered yeast rolls ever and had one for all of us.

At that point in time, I didn't care if the mower started because I had the most delicious roll in my hand that I had tasted since my grandmother was alive.

This is Ms. Kay and after my frustration with my new mower Ms.Kay told me to hop in her car and we drove a few doors down to see her new porch. Doesn't she look like the friendliest neighbor ever?

Ms. Kay's house is lined with knock-out roses and they added a new front porch a few weeks ago. They also hauled a car load of pretty plants to add some color to the new porch.

Her yard looks so pretty all the time. A sweet older man in town just randomly used to show up at her house and plant all types of fruit trees for her... for free. .

Yep, we have some real characters in this town...free fruit trees. I love Dutton but I don't get to see him that much anymore he's been sick. Dutton is the skinniest 90 year old man you will ever meet and he loves chasing women...even at 90. I first met him at the cafe where he would chase young waitresses around the table literally.

Apparently he liked to plant fruit trees too and I had no idea.

The knock-out roses are in full bloom. Aren't they pretty?

The geraniums with the solar crystal light topped with the robin are so pretty.

So Ms. Kay and I sat and talked the afternoon away....sharing stories.....enjoy pretty flowers....and gorgeous skies.

Her hubby and his friend were working on their tractors in the pasture clearing it for the cattle all while we sat and chatted.

This last week was so stressful so it was nice to have such a sweet treat and spend an afternoon with a dear friend just chatting the day away.

Tomorrow I will give you the rest of the tour of Ms.Kay's porch.

What are you up to today? Do you have good neighbors or do you know them?

Hugs from Oklahoma,

Valerie
