Red Velvet Flag Cake

      cake flag cake patriotic cake

Hello sweet friends.XOXOXOXOXOXO

It's been a little while since we've chatted.

I can't believe it's already the end of August, but I'm grateful.

It's been too hot.

I mean hot.

It's really hard to do things around the farm whenever it's so hot. We just kind of survive.

Who wants to just do that?

Now that the temps are cooling off a bit I have to share with you the most simple cake I make for Labor Day that everyone seems to enjoy.

Savory Mustard Glazed Chicken

Do you ever get tired of that blah chicken taste? I do. I'm actually more of a beef girl that needs to become a vegetarian, but it's hard because I like steak too much but I don't really eat that much steak anymore so I might as well become a vegetarian
but...I haven't.

In fact, I've been forced...yes forced...well, not held at gunpoint but you get the idea
forced to eat more chicken.

I gotta keep the family members healthy.

The only thing with chicken is that in order to get any flavor you have to marinate it for hours.

That's hard.
Especially when you live in the middle of nowhere and are gone for the day and forget to set something out for dinner.

There are no good restaurants in town only gas station pizza.

So a girl and her family have to eat right?

Well, bring on the chicken.

Sweet & Salty Oklahoma Trash Candy

Do ever crave something salty but sweet?

Come on you know what I mean. You want both but you go through your kitchen cabinets and fridge over and over again and nothing will do.

You get kind of desperate and try other things but you still can't knock the craving?

That's how I get sometimes. Actually a lot of times.

You can't even get good sweet tea out here.
